Here at Botanicals we love reading independent reviews of our products, especially when they’re written by people who are new to our products, and they become instant converts. Here’s a selection from the last seven days, with a big thank-you to the bloggers who take the time to write about us. We really appreciate it! (As always click on product heading to view details including ingredients and click on the blog name to click through to the full reviews).
Our cleansing melts are perfect for all year round, but really fantastic for the colder months when skin is feeling particularly sensitive due to the weather. They don’t contain any beeswax which can clog pores. Instead they have a beautiful soft shea butter base. This also means they are suitable for vegans. They also have gentle, relaxing scents, making them a pleasure to use. Here is some of the great feedback we have received:
“Firstly can I saw this cleanser smells amazing. There is a subtle rose fragrance there, but it also smelt like there was a hint of neroli (Although I could not see it on the ingredients). This product is not overpowering, in fact I found the scent relaxing, both in the pot and on my skin. The product contains 87% organic ingredients too.
This was my first product from Botanicals and I was not disappointed. The Cleansing Melt is a solid product which you need very little of. In fact a pea size amount is enough for me to cleanse my whole face and neck! Meaning, this 55g pot is going to last ages! So, although the outlay is a little pricey to begin with, it is economical in the long term.” Mel from 30 Something Mel
“If you have never been able to use cleansing balms like me because they erupt in a breakout the day after, then rejoice as I’ve found one for confused skin like ours! It’s by a company called Botanicals and as you can probably tell by the name and the packaging, the product leans more towards the natural and organic category, which is always great in the chemical laden world we live in.
This cleansing melt is the Rose & Camellia one and smells sweet, warm and spa-like. I wanted to say ‘it smells like Christmas’ but the phrase is a bit too overused no? It’s quite comforting to use and instantly makes you want to trust it for it’s cleansing abilities. Like every dubious blogger, I tried it with caution but was pleasantly surprised by it’s ability to keep my skin balanced. It’s been a regular evening cleanser since then and my skin’s quite happy.” Shifa from Get Gorgeous
Our Orange blossom body balm is turning into a firm beauty-blogger and customer favourite. It’s perfect for taking care of dry skin all over the body. Our body balm is truly versatile and great value due to the fact that it has no fillers – just pure butters and oils:
“This 89g tub is made of glass with a plastic black lid giving it that high end feel. The product inside surprised me with its grainy soft like silk white consistency that quickly turns into an oily non sticky consistency when applied to the skin. It truly has become my favourite body product! It moisturises the body beautifully and the moisture lasts all day. The scent is stunning filling the room with an Italian orangery and spa feeling, with the scent not leaving the skin for the rest of the day”. Alessia from Velvet Lashes blog
“I suffer with extremely dry patches on my arms at the moment, so I thought that using this body balm on these areas would be a good idea to see if it would soften the skin. The balm had quite an oily texture, so for anyone with oily skin I would be skeptical! I used the balm once a day on the dry patches and the skin has actually starter to feel and look better already and this is only after 2 weeks. I feel that if I was to continue this, the dry patches will completely disappear.” Lois from Visualising you blog
“The shea butter is significant for me as I have found the ingredient to be highly effective when it comes to moisturising without the dreaded greasy feel. When applied to damp skin, shea butter almost completely sinks in to the skin, leaving a gentle glow. And this oil base with the addition of the wonderful scents of orange blossom, patchouli and neroli essential oils means that this is a truly deliciously smelling product. Botanicals are really starting to take the position as one of my favourite brands and this is another brilliant offering from them.” Katie from Katie Vibes blog
Our Hydrating mists have been created to quench thirsty skin, to be used in place of a toner. The handy spray means you can skip cotton wool if you choose and spritz directly on to the skin.
“I am a huge fan of Botanicals Rose & Camellia range. Out of the three toners, this Hydrating Mist is the one that gives the biggest hit of moisture. I love the fragrance and would use this to refresh my skin throughout the day. This is also the best value for money.” Karen from In my Humble Opinion
“This particular Hydrating Mist is infused with chamomile to calm the skin, white tea to deliver to anti-oxidant action, lavender to also soothe along with mandarin to tone. Simply spritz onto the face or apply using a cotton pad; I found the spritz a bit too powerful to me so I used it with a pad after cleaning. The mist left my skin feeling refreshed without causing it to flare up and it did feel soothed after.” Jen from Jen’s Green Skin
The bath time treat everyone is falling in love with, these mineral bath soaks are made with the finest Himalayan and epsom salts and organic essential oils for the ultimate relaxing experience:
“The fragrance just made me feel as if I was in a spa. I could feel all my bones and joints just relaxing! (and being a student, this felt fantastic!) The only thing that I was unsure about was how much to use… I mean, I didn’t want to use loads but I did want the fragrance to come through. I found that 2 spoonful’s’ was perfect, however, this may be different for somebody who would prefer a subtler sort of fragrance.” Lois from Visualising you blog
We get lots of great feedback from professional therapists who use our products. And some of them post comments on our Facebook page. So we just thought we’d share a couple of recent messages which show how using natural and organic skincare products really can make a difference – especially if you suffer from problematic or sensitive skin.
Jennifer is a professional therapist currently on holiday in Texas. She discovered that our Rose & camellia hydrating mist provides the perfect cure for calming down mosquito bites. And closer to home, Tara from ‘Massage Away’ in the Lake District finds our Green clay & avocado balancing mask is great for tackling skin problems.

This is the best product for me! The smell, oh my! So good. The skin tonic can be used as a toner or as a cleanser on a lazy day. It really wakes you up in the mornings. It is great at taking dirt off and leaves your skin feeling delicious. I will be purchasing more of this! Cathryn.
Green clay & avocado balancing detox mask
This masque is a life saver! It calms down skin redness, reduces/gets rid of blemishes and even reduced my boyfriends boil over night so it just looked like a little pimple the next morning! Siobhan.

“Botanicals revitalising mask is definitely the most gentle face mask I’ve ever tried. It doesn’t dry my skin out at all. It doesn’t make my skin feel tight. It’s so gentle I almost forget I have it on. I only use a small amount, so it will last for a while. You can either use the clay as it is or mix it with a few drops of flower water in your hands. I tried both and works just as well either way.
“After rinsing my skin feels so clean and fresh. I can tell that any impurities and dirt are gone. The skin is still smooth and hasn’t dried out at all. I was pleasantly surprised as it’s so gentle on, I didn’t think it would do much. But it does work and I feel so clean.
“Even my husband said he didn’t recognise me. I don’t know if that was an insult to me or a compliment to Botanicals. Maybe both!” Sara Steele
“Once the oil has disappeared you are honestly left with baby soft, nourished skin. I think it’s so amazing that natural ingredients can do so much for you; I guess it shows you don’t need to be using a lot of the ingredients included in so many high street products.” Emma from Anomalous me blog
Reviews from beauty bloggers have been coming in thick and fast again this week. There’s also been lots of support for ‘Organic Beauty Week’ and the ‘Campaign for Clarity’ which has been fantastic to see. The more we can spread the word about what organic really means, the easier it will be for consumers to navigate the natural and organic market until the the time when regulation becomes tighter and more rigorous.
We’ve selected three reviews from the most recent; one on our ever-popular ‘Radiance facial serum’, and two on our ‘Orange blossom softening balm’. Click the heading below to view either product on our webshop, and the Blogger link to read the full review on their website.
So far, I’ve been using this serum for just under a month and it’s really made a huge difference to my dry cheeks and forehead. I apply a drop from the pipet (so cute) to each cheek, and one to my forehead after cleansing both day and night (I’m also thinking of integrating some natural toner in that routine at some point), and rub in upwards circles with my hands across my problem areas. When I sleep in it, I wake up with soft, plump skin, and it seems to have reduced my blemishes too. Besma from Curiously Conscious blog
As well as keeping my face hydrated, I always use body products to keep the rest of me moisturised. My dry skin has been loving Botanicals Body Balm which comes in a gorgeous Orange Blossom scent that smells summery and citrusy. Evelyn from We Were Raised by Wolves blog
The best thing about this product is that the effect actually lasts. I most often use body balms on my legs, as that’s where I find my skin can get a bit dry from time to time (probably all the shaving etc), and when I use botanicals balm my skin feels just as smooth at the end of the day as it did straight after applying. Overal I’m very impressed. Tamara from Rainbowfeet blog

We’ve had lots of product reviews from Beauty bloggers this week. Which is wonderful as we really enjoy reading them – especially as they’ve been so positive! “This beautiful Rose & Camellia cleansing milk by Botanicals retails for £14.95 for the 100g bottle – which is such good value for money. It is a wonderful product to use. It smells amazing – like Turkish Delights with a hint of roses. I could just sit here and sniff this cleanser for hours!” Becky from Lifestyle Blogger UK
“Just apply it all over your body after bathing or showering, or whenever your skin feels dry. The balmy, slightly oily consistency, feels silky on the skin and sinks in quickly.” Laura from Beauty Best friend blog
“The balm is scented with Neroli and Patchouli and is exquisite. The balm melts easily onto the skin absorbing quickly. It nourishes, softens, heals and protects the skin and can also be used as a natural perfume (I do love a multi-purpose product!)” Sandra from Beauty Balm blog
“The Botanicals Orange Blossom Body Balm is an outstanding skin moisturiser that nourish and protect the skin. The balm doesn’t feel greasy at all and melt into the skin – its conditioning properties make it the perfect ally for post-holiday skin; it helps calm irritations, protects skin from flaking and leaves a beautiful sheen on your sun-kissed skin.” Ale from I am a weapon of mass consumption blog

“Botanicals Soothing Salve is a gorgeous blend of lavender & chamomile. Essential oils of both lavender and chamomile have quite distinct and strong fragrances but when combined a lovely scent results. The Salve softens and protects skin and is particularly useful for eczema and chapped skin on hands. It can also be used as an after-sun moisturiser.
If you’ve not tried anything from Botanicals yet, I’d say give it a try – especially if you suffer from sensitive/dry skin. The textures are incredibly smooth, substantial and small amounts deliver huge benefitsI’m still amazed every time I use their Body Polish. Some body polishes are quite abrasive but Botanicals is almost balm-like with sugar particles. That’s off topic, but I guess what I’m trying to say is that this brand performs across the board. It’s not just one good stand-out product. They all stand out. They all work.” Subana from Berry’s beauty
“The cleansing melt suits my dry skin type perfectly, for those with combination or oilier skin types there is a Mandarin & Chamomile version too. It dissolves and gently lifts makeup and just leaves my skin bright and healthy looking. My skin feels thoroughly nourished after using this. What more could a girl ask for? I absolutely love the Rose & Camellia Cleansing Melt and can’t recommend it highly enough, I will be very sad when I finish my jar. The facial serum is wonderful too and is also on my wish list. Karen from In My Humble Opinion
Del Brown is a blogger with a difference. He describes himself as an ‘ingredient-scrutiniser’ with a passion for natural and organic, chemical-free skincare. So we were delighted when he gave a big thumbs-up for our organic ‘Botanicals radiance serum’ in a recent online review.
I’m going to start this review by declaring my absolute love for it! As you know with me, it’s ALL about the ingredients, so let’s start with that. The biggest ingredient in the bottle is organic apricot oil. Most of the big brands use olive oil as their carrier, as its cheap and widely available. Apricot oil is a natural anti-inflammatory when applied topically, so if you’re face is looking red, irritated or inflamed, this oil is perfect.
I’ve been using this for over a month and have found it help heal spots quickly, calm red irritated skin and rehydrate dry skin. There are several ways of using a face oil in your routine. You can use it on its own, replacing a cream moisturiser. Apply a couple of drops onto your fingers and smooth it into the skin. If your skin is feeling particularly dry or you’ve got some skin issues you want to tackle, apply one drop in with your moisturiser, combine, then apply. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and even oily.
As Summer comes to an end and an Autumnal chill starts to waft on the breeze, it’s great to hear how bloggers are using Botanicals products in their skincare routines. The calming lotion was created to calm the skin after shaving or waxing, perfect for irritated skin and to prevent ingrown hairs in combines soothing lavender, anti-sceptic teat tree and calming marigold and aloe vera:
“What I loved most about this lotion is that its so light and sinks in soo quickly! With 90% organic products the aloe vera, lavender and antiseptic tea tree keeps skin soft and soothed. I suffer with itchy arms often especially around my elbow and where my arm bends. It can be soo sore and get red if I itch too much. When I apply this instead of itching, the itching is gone and soothed.” Lisa from The Beauty Type
Our Mineral bath soak recently won a Green Parent award in the bathing category (read more) and combines therapeutic salts with essential oils of Rose, lavender and Ylang and Ylang, making it the perfect bedtime treat:
“Thanks to the amazing properties of the Pink Himalayan rock crystal, which contain 84 essential minerals, skin is revitalised and tired muscles are left feeling relaxed and revived. This combined with the healing properties of the Dead Sea mineral salts your body is treated to the most healing and soothing bath you’ve probably ever had.” Sarah from Iam Fabulicious
Here’s a selection of some recent reviews from beauty bloggers. We love hearing what others think of our range – especially from people who test a wide range of skincare products. “Bursting with Rose, Camellia, White Tea, Palmarosa and Rose Geranium, this is definitely a mist rather than a spray as it’s so, so light. However it still manages to be nourishing yet gentle, with no astringent or heavy ingredients.” Sasha from Ramblings of a Beauty Bird
We were thrilled this week to receive a lovely mention by Carrie Jackson, a Make up artist and supporter of natural skincare. In her recent empties post Carrie says:
“This is the second pot I’ve finished. I’ve just ordered a third. I love using this cleansing balm and couldn’t be without it in my evening skincare routine.” Carrie from What I Love Today
We’ve got used to winning at the Free From Awards (we were ‘Best Brand’ last year), and have always done well with our entries. This year’s awards took place in early July at the ‘Love Natural Love Organic Show’, with the prizes being presented by Radio 2 personality and long-time promoter of all things natural and organic, Janey Lee Grace.
Unfortunately there was no gold for Botanicals this year – but we did win silver in the ‘Problem skin’ category with our Soothing salve. And our Nourishing face balm won bronze in the ‘Face care (leave on)’ category. So considering the number of entries from virtually every producer of natural skin care products (and there’s an awful lot of us), that’s still pretty good going – even if we say so ourselves!
Just getting the products short-listed is an achievement – and all four of the products we submitted (including Beautiful hands anti-ageing serum and our Mandarin & chamomile cleansing melt) sailed over that hurdle. This involved “a rigorous month of ‘real life’ testing” by a team of six Beauty Bible testers.
